Millstone Family Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Millstone Family Restaurant in Aberdeen feels a bit like coming home—if home smelled of fresh coffee and warm caramel rolls. This is a place where the pace slows just enough to let the morning stretch out with endless cups of coffee and easy conversations, where the hum of familiar chatter blends with the clinking of plates and the comforting sizzle of breakfasts being carefully prepared.
The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious, filled with a genuine sense of community. It’s the kind of spot where families gather around well-worn tables for mornings rich with hearty, familiar flavors—and where even first-timers quickly feel welcomed into the fold. There’s a warmth here that extends beyond the food, carried through by friendly, thoughtful service attentive to both old regulars and newcomers, making dietary preferences or special requests feel like a natural part of the conversation.
While the menu holds classic staples like biscuits and gravy or a plate piled with eggs, hashbrowns, and homemade sausage gravy, it’s how these dishes settle into your day that truly resonates. The kitchen’s specialties—think rich, comforting caramel rolls shared alongside salty hashbrowns or a carefully crafted ham and cheese omelette—are less about fanfare and more about nourishing the small but important moments of a morning or midday pause. Kids and adults alike find their niche here, whether it’s a simple hamburger or a plate designed to satisfy a heartier appetite.
Millstone strikes that gentle balance between familiar local haunt and a quietly lively gathering place. It’s a spot where laughter and light-hearted noise mingle with the occasional softer moments of thoughtful pause, reflecting the everyday rhythms of life in this corner of South Dakota. Staff and guests together create a tapestry of human moments that make Millstone more than just a restaurant—it’s a shared kitchen table for the community, one comforting bite and warm smile at a time.

Was there today, was a group of elders lady's and Was so loud, laughing and laughing, like never want to stop! The servant Lady saw bothering everyone and very polite telling them, very funny here this group! So they left ,but usually when you go to eat like a ,,family " restaurant, please be not that loud! Maybe some client have the worst day, just want to eat not listen that loud full mouth with food and... sorry! Otherwise was good food, fast serving, and good price!

Great food and excellent service! Millstone handled our special dietary needs with care, which we really appreciated. Everything was fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. You can tell the restaurant is in good hands—we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Always friendly, fast and attentive service. The biscuits and gravy are amazing. The tomato soup at Millstone is to die for. We were here tonight. Our service was amazing as usual. What stood out to me was the amazing customer service provided to a different table. A table of four arrived a little after us. They were sat right behind us. As we were enjoying our meal we constantly heard them complain about everything. One of them went as far as making a condescending comment to the waiter. The waiter remained cool, calm and collected and kept serving with the same awesome friendly service he had prior. I commend that waiter because although those people were just difficult customers.. he remained cool and continued doing his job phenomenally. Millstone is a great spot to go to if you’re new in town. They will make you feel welcomed.

I went here a year ago and I decided to write a review because I am sitting in an IHOP but I'm thinking about how dang good the food was at this Milestone. It's been a year and I still think about the cappuccino I had there. I remember nothing else but how good that cappuccino was. I don't think any drink I ever have will top that.

Great, friendly service. Great food and the best corn beef hash I’ve had since childhood.
